Larta has a seat at the table for LAUNCH's Green Chemistry Forum
Carlos Gutierrez, Larta’s Chief Strategy Officer, traveled to Melbourne, Florida in late January where he participated as a Council Member in an invitation only event, the LAUNCH Green Chemistry Innovator’s Forum, co-directed by our friends Further by Design and Second Muse. In July of 2014 they set in motion a Green Chemistry Challenge, funded by NASA and Nike, with the mission to identify innovators who “leverage or advance green chemistry to transform the system of materials and manufacturing to one that advances the global economic growth, drives human prosperity and replenishes the planet’s resources.”
At the LAUNCH forum, the challenge winners were announced. The winners presented their innovations to the Council, a collection of centers of influence in the industries of hard sciences. Among the top ten innovations was one of Larta’s 2012 NSF alums, Mango Materials, an exciting company in the Bay Area that turns methane gas waste into ecofriendly, affordable plastics.
The Council Members also broke out into roundtable workshops, to discuss directly with the innovators the potential impact of their products, and their specific needs to penetrate the marketplace. Innovators walked away from the forum with new directions and connections.
Larta recognizes new technologies create change in the marketplace, and has long been an advocate of such change. Our seat at the table of the LAUNCH forum further confirms Larta as a leader in the commercialization of entrepreneurs and their innovations in the hard sciences.
