Larta hires director for our growing agriculture practice
Larta Institute is proud to announce our first Director for our growing agriculture practice, Claire Kinlaw. Claire joined Larta Institute’s executive team in January as the Director of our Agriculture Practice. Claire brings over two decades of experience in the commercial ag industry. As a plant scientist Claire led applied science projects for 20 years for the USDA where she co-developed a genomic science program for forest trees. Her career with the USDA culminated with her directing the Institute of Forest Genetics. After returning to graduate school for an MBA, Claire joined an early stage agriculture company, Terviva, where she led commercialization and customer project execution along with strategic thinking for post-harvest products and downstream markets for five years.
Larta’s agriculture practice currently covers three successful programs which have demonstrated impact:
(1) Commercialization Acceleration Program(s) for the USDA, serving nearly 100 companies a year to bring innovative solutions to the market, (2) Ag Innovation Showcase, the premier AgTech conference where connections are made that lead to deals and partnerships, and (3) Global Ag Innovation Network’s intimate discussion forums on major trends and issues across the Ag industry.
“As Larta Institute's first agriculture practice director, I am excited to join the team as we seek to increase our role in the success of global innovation commercialization. Larta is heading into exciting times as it continues to build on its reputation for program excellence and harnesses its network-based process and resources to develop new products and services to support the world of innovators, investors, and innovation managers. I am proud to join the team as we contribute to feeding, healing, and fueling the world,” says Claire.
Through Claire’s own network and broad knowledge of life sciences and agriculture, Claire supports Larta’s business development team as well as Larta’s other accelerator programs. She works with the team to develop new offerings to serve the agriculture community and to further innovation. She is committed to helping entrepreneurial ventures succeed through providing just-in-time resources, business advice, and access to a network of connections so entrepreneurs may get to know the right people in the right place at the right time.
We are excited to expand Larta’s Agriculture Practice and welcome Claire to the team with enthusiasm.
