Tom Nassif to keynote Ag Innovation Showcase in May
Tom Nassif, Western Growers Association CEO and former U.S. ambassador, will be a keynote speaker at the Ag Innovation Showcase at the World Food Center at U.C. Davis. The event runs May 8-9, with Nassif’s keynote on the morning of May 9th. The event, led by Larta Institute and the World Food Center, is a showcase of West Coast early-stage ag technologies. The Ag Innovation Showcase brand is famous for the professional and innovative ecosystems it brings together to make the industry’s next big deals.
Tom Nassif’s strong leadership experience and background in government and agriculture industry offers a unique view, with particular relevance to the audience of early-stage innovators in the food and agriculture sectors.
Nassif’s career began with work in agricultural labor law at Gray Cary Ames & Frye law firm, where he represented California and Arizona growers and shippers in elections, unfair labor practices hearings and more. During his time as a U.S. ambassador, he took on a variety of major roles including Deputy and Acting chief of Protocol for the White House during the Reagan administration. In 2002, he took leadership of Western Growers with an agenda to shift the fresh produce industry into a new era.

The event will focus on emerging technologies for food and high value agriculture. Other recognized leaders, such as growers and researcher Nolan Paul, Daniela Barile, and Andre Knoesen, will take to the mainstage to curate panel discussions on nutrition and food quality, and IOT on the farm.
Notables from both sides of research and industry, such as Victor P. Smith, David A. Mills, and Stephanie Naegeli, will curate large-form roundtable discussions on four different topics: Food & Beverage Processing, Drones & Robotics, Animal Health & Digital Barn, and Water Management Innovation.
