UCLA Invites Larta CSO to Serve as Nominator for Pritzker Emerging Environmental Genius Award
UCLA has invited Larta Institute’s Chief Strategy Officer Carlos Gutierrez to serve as a nominator for the Pritzker Emerging Environmental Genius Award.
As a member of the nominating committee, Gutierrez, along with senior members of Larta’s executive staff, will submit one exemplary candidate for the award, which includes a $100,000 prize. The prize is funded as part of a $20 million dollar gift to UCLA from the Anthony and Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation to give to entrepreneurs, scientists, communicators, sustainable business leaders and social justice advocates that have come up with answers to aid in improving global environmental issues.
The past winners of the Pritzker Emerging Environmental Genius Award include Dan Hammer, the 2017 awardee who democratized satellite imagery to aid journalists in creating realistic stories about climate change and the environment. The 2018 winner was Miranda Wang, who developed a cost-effective and sustainable way to break down different types of shredded plastic waste which could decrease plastic pollution.
Larta is proud to be a part of this promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship that increases sustainability and combats environmental concerns. More to come when the final nominees are announced later this summer!
